    Disco II Sls Issue

    Hi Guys

Done a lot of reading but not really come up with anything. We have a 2002 Disco 2 with ORIGINAL airbags - Yes I know they probably need changing. Heres the issue tho..

The back end of the car sags when stationary and off - equally both sides - and intermittently - sometimes it can go a week without doing it - then can start doing it nearly every time its turned off. Then stop again! Seems to me like a dicky valve rather than the bags but can the valves be bought separately - or whole compressor job?

    Thoughts and opinions welcome!

Hi,my money is on the bags(or only one of them), that's classic bag leak behaviour.... replace them both and you'll be OK IMO, and do it ASAP cos they'll kill the compressor too as it compensates for the leak while driving and will wear out at a point or will go to exceeded duty cycle default and stop, even in the unlikely case that it's a valve issue such old bags are not to be kept anymore also a valve leak in most cases is not intermittent so replaceing the bags would be the logical move cos it's 99% that will cure it and if not you can find valve block(air supply valves) separately if there's the issue

Definitely go Contitech. I replaced my original Conti's at about 7 years and the Dunlops started leaking after 4 and were very perished on inspection. I had kept the non leaking original Conti as a spare and ran it for a while and it was over 11 years old!

Buy from UK delivered in a week. Also get the compressor overhaul kit and replace the piston ring and o-ring. Don't forget the inlet filter behind the right rear tail light.

It was only a "limited edition" of dodgy dunlops around 2012 year and after some inconvenience they were removed from the market... these days dunlops are 100% reliable

please dont do that m8, the fact that you downgraded your vehicle is not some good advice IMO

I wont be changing to springs - I like the airbags.. especially for towing.

Ordered the compressor kit - just trying to get clarification if a local supplier has conti's or cheap chinese copies.. I think they are conti's. and if he has the clips..

    Thanks again all...

Most likely you'll be able to re-use your clips. Mine have always been in good condition. We don't have the same rust issues as those colder climates with salted roads. Unless you've done a lot of beach driving, I guess.

I guess you are right - but murphys law says one will break and i'll delay the job by a week!

I have spoken to the airbag supplier and they will throw them in FOC
