Globe holders and tail light globes are different, d2 rear lights have a strip with 5 'screws holding them into the light assembly, and appear better made than the d2a lights, they were probably trying to make up the cost of making the sexy headlights

Cheers. I wanted to put D2 upper taillights into my D2a. I prefer the look of them and thought I could put amber globes into the reverse lights for indicators.
