Will a Warn 9.5XP fit in a D2a ARB bullbar

Looking at getting a new bullbar... I have an XD9000 with a Bow 2 motor on it that is is the same length as a 6HP Warn (as found on a 9.5XP).

So, can anyone tell me if there's enough space for the extra length?? The bow 2 does not have a heat sink which may help.

03/04MY ARB full bars only (the ones with the fog lights), don't need to know about your sister's son's Xrox.

    I doubt.

The 4.6hp motor in the XD9000 is the limits for space, the 6hp which turns it into a 9500lb is bigger and longer as you know and the chassis doesn't provide the clearance. There is a cutout for a bigger winch and the motor to pass into the crushcan, but thats on the passengers side, not the drivers side.

    In a nutshell.... no.

Yeah with Cameron's help I've worked out that the 4.6Hp only has 2mm of clearance and the 6.8 is 20mm longer... So it won't work. Question is though, how hard is it to install upside down and still maintain correct operation? Or, do I just modify the crush can... I have a spare set of crush cans I bought.

I always wanted to build my own bar, but right now I don't have the time or necessary bender to do the job I want...

    I looked at that too.

IIRC if you flip the winch and run the motor on the PS, then I think it did take advantage of the cutout, but I don't recall if the 6hp fits because of the cap.

The other issue that I recall, is the brake mechanism within the winch and direction of operation. IIRC it also normally drags on power out, which would then be your power in direction.

I was told that you could get the 2hp cap to go on to the 6hp, I cant recall why but that wasn't my experience for some reason either. You've got the 6hp I guess, but here is a pic of the 2hp cap and plain bearing for matching purposes.

Whats the length difference of the 6.8hp Bow motor compared to the Warn 4.6hp?

Simon, I have two 4.6HP motors here, one long and one short, both with those caps so I will see if it will fit the Bow 2. Currently have 3 warns, M8000, XD9000 and the hotted up XD9000i that i did up.

Bow 2 is 20mm longer than a long body 4.6HP.

I've also looked at flipping the winch but I don't think the brake will work (will pull brake out to check but I assume it's engagement is centrifugally energised (ala drum brake).

Looking at the Warn website I have a feeling the cutout in the LH crush can was to fit an M10000 or M12000, which has the motor on the opposite side, if that is the case, and it phyically fits in behind the bar then it may be my best option, also picks up 10 or 20m of extra rope.

So I will order the bar and then work out my winching options once I have it here.

No good on the bushed end caps, on the bearing version the brushes are outside the motor housing, which is why the cap is deeper!
