    Semi Urgent help

    Hi Gang,

New to the Disco 2. Bought it "Mechanically A1" only to find I got a bit of a lemon (no-one say anything negative here. I know they take work and I love my Rig. Just got a lot to learn that is all. lol).

Right I am going to post a vid & I need to know what this component is. It is the electrical wiring & plug in this vid. I have found that the wires run back towards the firewall & over the transmission although I have a broken wire (2 wires come from this plug).

Being I'm now down to 1 vehicle & the Wife is seriously ****ed with me that the "new vehicle" has spent more time off the run than on (I bought it without "permission" & decided it's better to ask forgiveness than permission) I really need to get everything sorted & up & running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The plug is for the oil pressure lamp. There is only 1 wire needed. The black one is redundant and just sits back a bit loose in the loom.

Best address that coolant leak too...

If it's a TD5 under the turbo is a stepped rubber coolant hose that have been known to leak.
Not far from it is the oil pressure switch.
The plug for it has 2 pins and the loom runs over the transmition and down under the intake manifold into the main engine harness.
Of the two wires only one is used, the other usually ends in the conduit and is not used.
    Cheers, Kyle

    Justinc,
Thank you mate. Yep, Ive been googleing since posting & only just came up with this just after your reply. Good to know the black one is redundant. Only problem is it's so bloody tight over the back of the engine bay I am going to have to start removing stuff to make sure it's the back wire that has frayed & broken.

Re the coolant thanks for your honest care. I noticed a slight weep at a hose at the top of the engine and while moving the pipe up ended up with some spillage. Was planning on taking her for a drive to get her warm & make sure I had nipped it up but then found the broken wire & everything ground to a hault until I could find out what it was for.

Thank you so much for taking the time mate! With the Rig I bough this site looks like it is going to be my second home and the people on it my new family. lol.
Have a good Sunday & Thanks again.

Thanks for taking the time Alien. Coolant leak is due to my butter fingers while trying to nip up a hose. Great advice though from you. I will clean it all up and then keep an eye on it.

Regarding the wire it's just so tight to get my big mitts over the back to follow the wire it became hard to follow. Being that all the conduit has perrised it's just bare wires so I believed it to be broken (that & the frayed ends). Ill get some more conduit to protect it and clean up the end.

Again thank you for taking the time mate. I really appreciate all the help people provide on this site.

The other 2 beat me to it, sounds like your onto it .

Be a good idea to look at the hose alien speaks of as it gets affected from the turbo heat and it is 2 different sizes so not something you will get from supercheap.

    Cheers Ean

And have a real good look around the front of the engine, with the engine cover off, there are a number of other hoses that like to rub on things.

Power steering hoses also need to be kept an eye on.

And if you lose a large amount of coolant there is a special procedure to bleed the cooling system. If not done correctly, the engine can be damaged.

Heaps of good info on here, search is your friend.
