    Td5 injector washers question

Helped out a mate who's injector washers let go in a fairly major way...hopefully all it was, anyhow all replaced loom cleaned washers o rings and set up and running strongly ( no smoke ) now I've done mine on the defender, but with starting and loss of power being my symptoms. This let go it time and looking at the baby bath full of diesel oil mix ( unmeasured as yet) it looks to be well over 10 litres ( I'll post it when we measure it) is this kind of major dump of fuel into the sump as bizarre as it seems to me?
    Regards mark
Ps oils being dumped again real soon/ filters to

Take the rocker cover off , turn the ignition on , you'll see where its coming from if it's that big a leak

He had the injectors out by the time I got there, defiantly stored for future reference though...the worst washer on my defender( witch would start but run very poorly for a few minuets before loosing power was far better than the best of his 5.
    Cheers

The diesel in oil is caused by the o-rings, the washers have not much to do with that

The washers have nothing to do with diesel in oil only with combustion gas backpressure in fuel, see the attachment and you'll understand why, the arrows are where the fuel is circulating, fuel through the copper washers would hydrolock the engine not else, the compression is much higher than the fuel pressure so quite unlikely for fuel to get through with running engine but the fuel pressure is higher than the oil pressure so a leaking o-ring would let fuel into the oil

Your problem was the copper washers , your mates is ( hopefully, for your mates sake ) , the 'o' rings , as sierrafery stated . If it's not , then its probably a cracked head , hence my first post about ign on , rocker cover off , have a look. I can only see one of those copper washers that may have tracking and even that might be a shadow, but that's only one side , anyway those aren't the problem

Are you sure the orings are in the correct groove on the injector?
As said earlier, take rocker cover off, turn ignition on and loom for fuel. If it's not obvious, your heads most likely cracked.

Yea triple checked everything.... still running well today , no increase in sump level got fresh oil n filters going in after a few drives to make shure it's just not pouring back in
