    Front Propshaft Removed

I finally removed the front prop shaft

    https://youtu.be/8mwXLGOj1vk

The odd squeak, that may have been the fan belt or a loose exhaust manifold has gone.
The rumble from the buggered Hookes joint, gone.
I'm, so glad I bought a D2a, with the lockable front diff.

    Thanks Bohica

For those kms I guess that would have been the second shaft.

I'm always curious from a preventative maintainance view point as to the life of parts. Form other posts on here and personal experience genuine front prop shafts seem to last around 150k, in normal use.

    Cheers

I thought that this would be the second one. I'll rebuild it with greasable uni's, and see how long that lasts.

It is I might add, very pleasant to be able to drive the car without all the noises and the worry that the prop shaft would go in a blaze of glory.

    Cheers

    Thumbs up

Bought one from Proptechnix for $400 delivered to Australia with grease nipples on side for easy greasing so far so good. Was just about cheaper than doing myself.

If it is greasable it should have a hidden grease nipple in behind the double cardan .
It is only accessible with the shaft removed that is the one that is of more a concern imo

When you remove double carden next time I've seen a small hole drilled in outer cover ( not bearing) and you use a chainsaw greaser push type to push grease into centre bearing. If you know how a chainsaw grease gun works you'll know what I am trying to describe.

    No Nip

I've just had a look, no grease nipple at all, and from moving the joint, it seems that the centre bearing has **** itself. So I just need to change that.

    Jokes guys,
Looking at repair kits, I don't see a grease nipple for the centre bearing.

    Cheers Julian
