D2 Td5 Clicking Sound
I've got this mysterious clicking type sound coming from my 2000 d2 td5. I can't put my finger on what exactly is making the noise.
The situation:
Whilst the engine is under load there's this clicking sound similar to a leaf stuck in a fan (and yes i have checked for a leaf in the fan haha).
It doesn't change with road speed.
It's only present with D selected and above 1500rpm.
It doesn't particularly change with engine RPM. I've been in 4th gear between 2150-2300rpm at 100kmh+ and the noise disappears with my foot off the accelerator whilst engine RPM stays pretty much the same.
The noise is not present whilst in park or in neutral, however it does exist with the left foot on the brake and right foot on the accelerator in drive.
It really seems to only be affected by my right foot.
What I've checked:
Exhaust manifold (no leaks or missing studs etc.)
Turbo hoses and airbox
DC joint
Foreign debris in the fan
Leaks from the exhaust
The only thing i've noticed is that the flex joint on the dump point is a little rattly when you tap the exhaust. no carbon blow visible either. but i'm sure it's always been like that
I hope someone out there has had this issue before and can point me in the right direction!
EDIT: Noise can be heard towards the end of the video [ame]https://youtu.be/r-z1lL-DOcw[/ame]
