    Touring suspension

Seeking advice/opinions on the currently available suspension gear for the D2 (td5 , non sls). We are gearing up for a lap towing a 2tonne van. The bus is also a heavy one , with full bar work and long range tanks etc.

I would use a 2" lift and specifically heavy duty setup.

My opinion is that the OME 2" HD spring and shock setup is as drama free as they get, you wont need to do anything else to the vehicle and it will work. Consider Polyairs with it.

The hardest part of the suspension on a D2 is the rear and for heavy vehicles they need to be very stiff in the shocks and springs. Quite a few people have gone even stiffer in the rear shocks (Bilsteins valved at 400/100R and 360/80F) and this is a great setup for a heavy vehicle and will probably work quite well for you while loaded beyond GVM and with the van on the back.
    Cheers

That's what I had in mine. Worked well but I did only tow about 1.2T.

OME option is a 2" raised 200kg constant in the back. King via a suspension mob is an "extra heavy duty" 100-300kg. Knowing that King supply ARB, the $90 higher ARB price per pair would be ARB margin I presume. Wondering if they are in fact the same spring, since the ARB progressive is lighter duty again.
Tempted to go with the Non ARB option as their identical bag price was also $80 cheaper.
The billies in her currently are ok and could be rebuilt for the same price as new OMEs. Believe the Billies are superior shock right?

About a year ago I replaced my rear springs and shocks with a set of blu max progressive +250kg. I had an enormous amount of weight in the vehicle and a heavy draw bar weight. When towing I had to pump up the poly airs, but without towing they were great. I recently started wrecking my sons disco and swapped over his full set of old man emus to mine. If you are only going to replace the rears they are available. PM me if interested (I believe they are also made by king springs.)

King and OME have their own specs on the springs.

I had some D2 King Springs tested years ago and they were quite light, off the top of my head they may have been 190lb/inF and 250lb/in in the rear.

In OME off the top of my head, the fronts are 180lb/in and the light and medium ones are just a different spring length. The HD front they upped to 225lb/in which is the rate you need because any lighter and they will settle over time and you will lose your lift - I think Tombie was instrumental in this rate change by OME, and it was a good one!

For the rear the OME (again off the top of my head) were 290lb/in for the lightest, variable 300-340lb/in for the medium and 360lb for the stiffest.

My D2 is setup with 230lb/in front and 300-340lb/in rear. Its not an OME setup, but the rates are really good with polyairs for when you're loaded.

1500kg rear with full tanks and normal load for travelling. Van adds 150-180 depending on loads and I recall the rear axle limit is 17something.

Despite a clean bill of health from Pedders (except sagging rear springs) on a few months ago, closer inspection of the suspension has revealed just about every bush in sight is flogged out or on the way to be. Single spring and bag job is now looking like another 2k in parts and labour. There is also a question mark over the Billies on the assessment, $900 replace or $700 rebuild situation.
Faced with the above, recommendations re bush kits - LR/OEM or Superpro? The SP are like $1200 in bushes alone! Re shocks - thinking I'll pass on rebuild, if going to spend good money might as well have all new shocks. OME shocks could save me a few $ @ abt $600, so I'm leaning that way given it is getting OME springs.
Keen to hear any additional opinions.
