    Double cardan centre bearing woes

    Hello all.
Tonight, Fast Freddie and I removed the uni joints from the front prop shaft.
The centre bearing was dry, rusty and fell out. Not at all hard to remove. The cup where the bearing sists is worn and I'm not sure if can be used. The again, can I get just this part to replace the existing part. I'm sure the ULR or MLR will be happy to sell me a complete propshaft But I only need a small part. This part does not have a part number on microcat.

I think I may have to re-use this part and see how long it lasts.

two thoughts, one is loctite, the other is a bit of weld maybe.
All of this stuff is held under tension and doesn't spin, so I'd be tempted to put a bit of loctite blue or red on the bearing and put it in. It's not going to fall out once all assembled.

if the bearing falls out of the cup replace the assembly.

it will only fail prematurely otherwise.

The reason it doesn't have a part number on it as Land rover only sell the complete unit. Technically it is not supposed to be a servicable part.

have you looked at discovery2.co.uk/propshafts ? as far as I can make out the bearing is a MOOG/Precsion 617 at $20.79 USD or Hardy spicer Assembly 3048-674 UJ's 114-2501 and Centre kit CV-163

I have the bearing, the problem is the 'cup' that hold the bearing. It is worn away quite badly on one side. I guess the photo doesn't show that. It'll make a nice paper weight but!
