Yep Pedro. I didn't put it in...

I got it out as soon as I could though.

I will need to flush the block with Nulon flush or similar....hope it breaks down the sludge and when dropped the left over water doesn't reform the slime...

    Cheers

so the total cost to Aus will be GBP680!!

I reckon you could get a copper 4 core for less than that.
I remember there's a chap in or near Bendigo that makes them.

    EDIT:
took a while to find him, but he's here at:

    Bendigo Radiators

he seems to make them for 200/300 Tdi's and for D1/RRC's but not D2 or beyond.
Maybe they haven't updated their website or something(dunno).

I actually don't know him, but many years back(early 90's) I remember a mate of a (mechanic) mate had an early D1, and he modded it to high heaven.
I remember them using something like a WB Statesman rad to keep it running cooler.
Not sure on the exact rad, but it was something like that and it worked better than the Rover radiator. Lot's of mucking about tho with the different config.
It was not long after that that we discovered Bendigo Radiators and his 4 core for the RRC.

I think 2 core is fine in alloy....plenty of room to breath. I just put the old tank on and fitted and bled and with thermostat in it idles at 82 and a quick rev at idle for 15 seconds at fast idle and it's down to 76. Amen brother. OK so doing HID spotlight extensions while grill is off but once up and running I reckon it will be sweet. I put the filter back in and I reckon it's a good bit of kit (check often especially for first few hundred kilometers). I used to run it years ago but BOR took it off for some reason.

Just for those considering a full alloy.

I have been researching ebay and came up with a full alloy. Looking at the page of the seller it showed radiators with "FENIX" emblazoned across the core.

As I had looked at the FENIX site and no full alloy was listed for D2, I emailed them to find out if they sold one.

    Their response

That store operates out of China and some of his products are a rip off / fake copy of the Fenix range. We don't currently do anything in all aluminium to suit the Discovery TD5. If you order one from him just be careful, we have had a whole heap of complains about him (people see the brand on the radiator and assume we built it when that isn't the case).
    Caveat Emptor.

    Regards Philip A

OK Pedro I won't show you a photo...I will.tell you about it instead...so today I knew the filter was blocking up because operating temps were slowing going up. Cooled down this afternoon and sure enough soft stuff had blocked half the filter very much restricting flow (people who don't like checking underbonnet stuff should not use a filter...and THAT is the reason why car makers don't use them...they are the polar opposite of what they are marketing in their vehicles...ie you don't have to open the bonnet...just drive in every 20k klms blah blah). So cleaned up and I will keep running water for a few more days and then swap to coolant mix. I will need to check the filter less and less based on some 25 years of using the filter on a variety of vehicles. What is good is that with the overflow cap on no water pours out of the filter with the lid removed (it does if you lift overflow bottle of course).

    Cheers
