    Out of coolant & ideas

Hi all after rebuilding my son in laws v8 D2 top end it ran great for 5000 ks. Now it has developed a mystery coolant ptoblem. Driving along the temp guage suddenly climbs to high. If you pull over & stop for 5 mins it goes down to 3/4 high then drive off it comes back to normal. I just replaced the thermostat thinking that was the problem . Yesterday drove 20 ks after replacing thermostat & bleeding properly with no problems i thought it was solved. Now i get a call this morning its overheated again . Its had heads done new hoses new water pump new thermostat heater disconected and loop put in throttle body blankec off. Any ideas Im at the end of tether with this one I have spent almost $4 k of my own cash to help them out . The radiator looks good but that is the only thing not replaced.

even now the rads are not a wholesale replacement item, there are a few getting replaced, but not many in the scheme of things,,
however, if its the only think not checked---
have you done a proper combustion gas check?
4K is a lot for a nil result

Cant see any coolant dripping out none in the oil none in the exhaust. The only coolant it loses is when my son in law boils it. He said it was only a minute from homeso i kept driving with guage on red. I just dont understand how it can run perfectly then suddenly the temp goes up. Yeaterday I fitted the new thermostat I then filled the radiator through the top hose then the block through the pipe then the 3 piece hose then the expansion bottle. I bled a bit of air out & it drove 20 k all good no problems at all. Im starting to think its Possessed !!!! Arrrgghhh !

Rangieman and LoanRanger, are you guys referring to the fan that switches on when it hits a certain temperature in the engine bay?
