Take the door trim off. Could be a broken spring needing to be replaced. They are a bit of a pain to get back together.

Hi everyone! Against my better judgement(!) I just replaced my dead pajero with a 2001 td5 discovery 2 so I have the feeling this forum will come in handy! One of the issues it has is the rear drivers side door is stuck closed. I did read another thread where someone had a similar issue but I don't think it said if they resolved it. Anyone else had this happed and managed to fix it without causing too much damage?!

They have a electric door latch .
You say wont open have you tried the inside door opener to open it .
And as mick said take the door trim off.
You say you bought this against your better judgementIt worrys me when people jump on brand based forums and say things like this after buying second hand cars .
Im guessing your Paj was old and not going hence the D2 .
I feel you made this choice for a car that is going you could have bought anything else but you did`nt.
Maybe a different mind set would help yourself and us to be positive to any issues you require help for .
Im not having a go but your opening sentence screams i dont want to be hear but i have too

Haha sorry, probably bad opening line. I guess the truth is I really wanted a landrover, but am aware that they can be problematic and take some care and attention. So I got the door trim off and managed to manually pop the door catch. Turns out child lock was on (hence not opening from the inside) and the rod to the outside handle seems to be completely missing?!
Welcome to the forum and Land Rover ownership. Pretty much everything you need to know about your D2 is on here. Many people have broken things before you and figured out how to fix them! If you want to get the most out of your Disco, go to the D2 section here and (if it hasn't already got it) find the best method to connect the linkages for your Central Diff Lock (CDL). And enjoy your new beastie!
