Love a Disco 2. Modern Classic

Ok overall I reckon the D2 is one of the very best all rounders. It's a Jack of All Trades.

    Read para 2 here....

Common Problems and Fixes - Discovery 2 - K Motors

Then read the D3 and 4 page on the same site. Haha...that will get people going.

Seriously once you get a handle on them (and there is just so much info around) they are a great enthusiasts vehicle and there is so much scope for quiet, refined touring with great off-road ability.

    Cheers

Completely agree! Comfortable, capable, modifiable, robust. They just need an Audi SQ5 220kw diesel engine!

The Deefer list is even shorter.
and it's an issue we don't have here in Oz.

I will miss my Deefer terribly, but am really looking forward to a relationship with the D2.

Hmm, that sounds a touch anthropomorphic....

I always have and still do think the D2 is the most under rated 4x4 sold in Australia, if you look at what the D2 had in 2000 it was an advanced vehicle at the time. I always remember in 2008 when I asked if anyone was interested in doing the Canning stock route in 2010, , the amount of people who thought it crazy that you would take a D2 that remote surprised me , especially a few from this site. ( read the trip report if you want to know how they went ). I will never forget the look on the faces of 2 couples on the canning who sold their Disco's and bought other brands because they believed the hype that they weren't capable enough to do it. you know the add - priceless...

I love my D3 but if the right priced D2 comes along it will find itself parked in my driveway alongside the D3 , that's how much I enjoyed the D2 and the places ours took us. My father in law has one of the last D2a's that was sold before the D3 release and its proberly in better condition than when he picked it up new , when he finally decides the time has come to move it on , I already have the spot reserved for it in my shed.

    Cheers Ean

Haha reading that page made me glad I went the V8.
I was after a TD5 until my cousin, a reputable LR mechanic talked me out of one.

    I love my D2.

I'd love to drop a bunch of cash on it to upgrade the engine, transmission, diffs, interior.....ah well

Maybe in a couple of years.

    Hmmmmm....indeed this may be so.

In that same vein I notice that the Rangie Classic is absent from their Common Faults List. Does this mean that my Classic LSE is perfect........?
