    Bonnet Lever

    Has anyone ever thought about moving the bonnet catch lever to the right hand side or has an idea on how to do it.

    No but I've often thought about an alternative method of opening the catch since having the pull cable snap on trip into Wonnangatta Valley and spending 3 hours defeating the anti theft shield that prevents access to manually the release the bonnet catch ....gggrrrrrrr!

    Just having the lever on the passenger side is a pretty good anti theft item, It took me ages to find the damned thing when I first bought my D2

    Just seems to be a problem every time I check the oil etc. Might try to reroute it to the other side or set up an electrical solenoid switch.

    Couldn't u just open the passenger door & pull the lever like the rest of us? Don't mean to sound like a smart Alec but it sounds like a hassle.

    Yeah! sounds easy peasy, but not all situations are so simple, unless you only view the issue from 'your own perspective' all the time.
    I'm guessing that your situation John is one where you can access the vehicle from both sides at any given time, but not everyone enjoys this freedom.

    I currently have two cars in my driveway, one being the D1(daily driver) and the other a D2(project).
    But, there isn't room in my drive for two cars with full access to both sides of each vehicle, one up against the bushes, the other up against the fence.
    So maybe it's not just a simple matter fro some folks to 'just open the passenger's door.
    Well, at least for me it's not.
    I have to start the car, move it back a few feet, then move it sideways and forward a few feet either way .. but first I have to move the other vehicle out of the way to allow the first one to be moved ... etc, etc, ad infinitum.

    I've thought of moving the release to the drivers side(where it used to be too mind you on older landrovers(ie. RRC).

    I had to replace the cable on the D2 recently and the two problems with moving the release latch to the drivers side are the cable length, and the interior lever itself will have to be mounted upside down(it's handed for the LHS of the car).

    I've toyed with the idea of a solenoid, either a specific boot release type or maybe try to cobble something up with some spare central locking solenoids I have gathering dust.

    Fair point. I've got my camper trailer in the passenger side.

    Is it possible to run a cable to drivers side allowing 2 simultaneous releases to be installed?

    Should be(I reckon).

    The issue with two cables will only be the bonnet latch end, where the cable needs to be secured to the latch(at the bonnet).

    I don't have my D2 latch assembly free any more, as it's now installed, but I had it out for ages and looking at it to work out how to install a boot release solenoid, and I remember there's enough meat on the metal hookup areas to drill a new access point to connect another mechanism.
