    Jazz up the duco

Like so many Discos of a similar era the duco on the cab roof and bonnet is faded and looks like someone has poured acid over it. A respray is not going to happen but was wondering if anyone has thought outside the box and come up with a "cheap" way of making it less ugly. Discos aren't alone in this abysmal paint weathering........what were they thinking of?
    Thanks,
    Pete

    Vinyl wrap?

or respray the affected panels, wouldn't be too expensive, essential just need to rub down the affected area (removing loose clear coat and keying the panel) and spray three /4 coats of clear coat onto it,

all depends how bad the damage is

No, looks really deep. tried cut and polish. Same ugly.
Vinyl wrap is a reasonable idea but look a bit weird on the bonnet.

Can an you post a photo of the damage?

Bonnet can be removed and resprayed, so you could just wrap the roof,

clear coat damage can look terrible but isn't too hard to improve,

Do a search for painting a car using a roller and self levelling marine paint. Might be an option for the bonnet and roof, especially if your happy to have a different colour.

You can get a perfect match from your paint code for the paint in either Aerosol's or paint cans from bcs auto paints store - Touch Up Car Paints.

When my D2 roof went "milky" , I went to Supercheap and bought 6 cans of primer ,6 cans of silver paint and 6 cans of clear.
Rubbed down the roof ,masked the whole car, and painted primer, silver and clear coat in the driveway.

The bloody weather turned on me and temp went to 40C and hot wind, which cause the silver to dry before landing in several places, but still the job is OK and will protect the original paint so that it does not peel.

If above the car you can see some lines but nobody is that tall and it makes my Oslo Blue car about 20C cooler.

The car looks pretty smart from at least 2 metres now ,as the bonnet has several fruit bat **** marks which I have touched up, and the doors have chips from a couple of laps of OZ.

I am really not game to try to paint the bonnet or sides with body colour spray cans as I don't thing I would be able to get an OEM finish, but hey nobody sees the top of the roof .
    Regards Philip A

There was a D1 for sale on here awhile ago that had the roof and bonnet blacked out. Not sure if it was paint or wrap but looked quite good.

Just get them resprayed. It's not that expensive.
