Nanocom is the cheapest(though not cheap) which will make it learn the security code cos only that will make the engine to run and not stop after it was started, and it will reset the addaptive values too
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned

Thanks guys for the information. Looks like i can't just plig and play. The reason for ecu change is my o2 sensors don't work all the time. On petrol after reset fault code .7 to .8 volts. Been told still a bit low and still smells like over fueling. Switch to injected gas and both o2 sensors drop to .01 to .02v. Ecu shows fault code o2 banks 1 and 2 to lean.
Replaced o2's still the same. Traced wiring all good. Cleaned connections still no good. Was told could be ecu.
    Any more advice.?.

And yes it's a 4.6. The ecu has been sent to mark adams and re-mapped. The o2 fault was already there before as i thought this was a 4.6 problem and re-mapping would fix it.

    How old is the maf,,
The o2's should move around, but the high and low ends are not good news,,
air leaks, both before and after piston,, affect the o2 readout,
can you read your STFT and LTFT's?

Have you changed the MAF to RR 4.6?
this also requires RR airbox due to RR maf being larger Dia,,
Ozscot's 4.6 is living proof this doesnt always need doing,,
    but mine did..

    confused?

the new ecu is expecting data between two set points,, the 4L maf wont supply that,, hence o2 confusion,,

Hi. Mark did re-map and reset ecu to run the RR4.6 MAF. I also got him to supply the MAF so I didn't stuff it up.
He also supplied me with the filter lid to fix the larger MAF. what I don't have is the larger air intake from the MAF to the inlet manifold.
    Could this be a problem.?

no,, as long as its a 4.6maf it will be fine,,

and i'm not sure there is a difference in diameter in any Thor engine after the maf,, the D2a's have the sonic boom bubbles,, dunno about the RR's,,

you need to see if your long and short fuel trims are still active,,,
that will clear the o2's, maf age? air leaks?
past that? its down to the ecm,,
it would be silly blaming the ecm and find a huge air leak-- afterwoods.

Air leaks?. I've looked for leaks. Any common places to start looking. Could it be that easy.

exhaust is easy, only a few places to listen/look
    inlet is harder,
Hopefully a JC or someone will chime in,,
but a spray of something? around the inlet passages will display an increase in revs if a leak is present,,
not a lubricant/wd40 type, more a brakecleen thing so it evaporates away..

the differences in STFT/LTFT bank to bank will help you see which side the leak may be on,,
also it will show just how lean the thing is,,
