So if you buy the ecm also buy the bcu from the same vehicle.would this work, since they have already been introduced to each other.

The only certain thing with that setup is that the engine will run and not stop after it was started but in this case the BCU needs to be programmed to fit your vehicle's equipment(key fobs, warning lamps, odometer, alarm settings, etc) also it's not guaranteed that you'll not need to reset addaptive values too as to make it run faultless .... better buy a nanocom than another ECU + BCU cos at least that will pay for itself in no time

I used a Nanocom to sync a 2nd hand BCU to the ECU. Then the ECU developed an issue reading bank 1 O2 sensor and so was replaced. All synced up using the Nanocom.

    Handy bit of kit!

Nice work mate. Does the Nanacom come with an instructional manual that is more than generic? Cheers

Unfortunately Pedro through a costly process of elimination; replaced sensors (non-genuine), replaced MAF (non-genuine), replaced harness (I did have a melted O2 plug which I now think caused the ECU problem). Still had the code and so changed bank 1 sensor with a known good Bosch sensor. Still got the code so that left just ECU. So I put my 4.6 ECU I got from a 04 4.6 Disco in the states and the code went. Hasn't returned since and that was about 4 months ago so it was definitely the ECU.

    Cheers
