Thread: Best way to seal up flexible airbox joint

On second thoughts sika might not be OK unless the pipe was sealed first with say duct tape and then sika was extended over the end onto plastic (Not good straight onto perforations because it isn't sensor safe). Sensor safe would be OK applied straight on.. Cheers

When smearing the ska flex, have a stash of A4 size plastic bags to use as a glove.
Hand in, smear goo on protected hand, smear that lot where it is needed, extract hand - turning the bag inside out, dispose of and repeat as needed.
Saves a heap of hand scrubbing.

On mine I'm gunna try that self fusing silicone tape that's commonly called 'rescue tape' .

The connection of the flexible joint to the inner guard is also suspect for waterproofing. The original seal, PHN100210, just looks like some foam tape.

I used Sikaflex and then wrapped it in cling wrap. You can massage the Sikaflex and ensure complete coverage. Slowly remove the cling wrap and you get a uniform pattern on the Sikaflex.

I used the same as onebob, self sealing silicone tape worked a treat, it's been there about 18 months

I used sikaflex when i installed my snorkle recently and it works just fine, However if the water is deep enough to get in via that joint the sparkplugs would be undewater anyway
