    Coolant

Is Nulon Red Long Life Coolant OK to use for a complete change or should I stick to the Green?

I have answered my own question after doing a search, the Nulon Red Long Life (OAT) is the correct coolant.

    Flush flush flush

Be sure you flush out all the old coolant as mixing them can lead to heaps of trouble.

When flushing have the heater temp set high as well, I'm not sure whether there is a tap in the system or just air flow control of the heater temp but just in case.

    Cheers

Nulon now has a specific diesel coolant , which is of course dearer. I saw it today at Supercheap after reading the ads some time ago.
It appears to have something like Water Wetter in it to reduce steam forming on internal surfaces.

I think I will use it on the next change although I am happy with the Nulon OAT, although be prepared for weeping at every joint , which in my case settled down after a few KKs.

    Thanks everybody,
The engine and radiator were run with OAT but the D2 that received the transplant used green so I did a big flush of the heater a few days ago. I fired the engine up today after programming the injectors for the first time in four years and it lives after some persuasion and purrs like a Dream. I'll bring it up to operating temperature tomorrow and check for leaks. Doing an engine swap is a process I'll try and avoid in the future though.
