My Puma has never needed topping up between services.
When our D1 300 Tdi's heater failed we had green coolant on the carpet and floor. Is your leak green?
BTW we just bypassed the heater and kept going into the Simpson. No more coolant leaks.

Actually, I just pulled the dash on one I was wrecking. I was surprised, that it wasn't as hard as I thought. Admittedly, I had the seats out. But I was trying to be careful with my disassembly. Although I didn't need to mark all the plugs to work out where they go back though.

but there are not a whole lot of screws/bolts holding it all together, its just going to be the putting it back, that will be the hard bit.

you might be easier to pull the seats (which again are not particularly difficult to get out) as it will make it easier to manhandle the dash out. I got mine out by myself without breaking any of it. It would suck to put one of the sharp metal corners of the dash through your seat.

I removed centre console.
removed radio and the centre section
remove binnacle
you might need to unscrew the gauges to unplug them. If you can unplug them leave it screwed in.
removed the lower kick plate covers
remove wheel and the various covers (disconnect battery so you don't set of the airbag)
dash is held on with about 10 bolts
a lot of the wiring harness is cable tied to the back of the dash though.
Don't forget the glove box light and switch.

Yep, head gasket leaking!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Head seems straight but it's off to the workshop for checks valves re seated and head faced to be sure.

At 330000 klm it still had plastic dowels but they were fried, just crumbly bits of plastic, all broken up.

So, I'm presuming the water under the carpet is from the AC discharge tube as there was no coolant smell with it.

While I'm at it new engine mounts and check on that oil pump bolt, JIC.

Turbo off the old girl and onto this one, head and manifold ports aligned with gasket, every little bit helps.

Jeeze, won't know the old girl when I'm done.
