Had to spend yesterday fixing sticky plastic on the D2 and the P38 console after using armour all over several years. The surface becomes sticky and soft. This has to be removed with lots of elbow grease back to good plastic and it takes hours. I am am now using Bowdens products so hope they work
Dont use Armour all on your interior plastic.
Secondly I have been using Meguires trim detailer and protectant on the wheel trim and grill. My experiences with meguires trim detailer is that over time it makes the black plastic go grey and the rubber discolour. It cant be any other factor other than the near empty bottle of meguires trim detailer in my cupboard - because that is all I used.
I contacted Meguires and they said that all their products have silicone. From research on the web this seems to be the culprit.
So avoid Meguires or any silicone based product. Too late for me but for those trying to restore your D2 or P38 plastics and rubber, then avoid this stuff.
Both my cars spend a lot of their time in the garage.
Maybe others could report back on their experiences.

The centre consoles damage is not old age. The p38 resides in the garage and it was armour all that I used on the interior. It definitely makes it sticky.
Similarly the grill on the P38 is discoloured grey after using meguires - it has been in the shed. The car is 17 years old but the leather and interior and paint are showroom. The car is white HSE with all the black trimmings.
It has to be the products.
The D2 has been outside a bit, but also resides in the shed.

I just use warm soapy water.
It gets the dirt off But it doesn't come up "Sparkalarkaly" like when armourall is used.
Because of where I live and the dirt road access, Using anything other than just soap and water makes the dust stick to everything anyway.

I have read somewhere that coconut all oil makes the plastic wheel trims/bumpers etc come up like new. Not sure I would want to be using it on the interior.
I would never use Armor All but do use Meguiars products. Anything else work better?
Im going to try an australian compnay called bowdensown and see if it can recover the interior trim.
I have the D2 console out now and will report back.
They have some good how to guides on rejuvenating smooth non textured plastic - such as the grill.
For the rubber wheel arch trims - not sure. There are a few youtube videos featuring professional detailers in the US.

I saw on a pommy site that Peanut butter restores exterior stuff, it must be the peanut in it. The crunchy stuff would probably scratch stuff ,maybe you use smooth and you might get rodents following you.
You also have to be careful with leather products, I bought a kit for leather car seat care and it included some leather cleaning wipes. I used the wipes once and if made the seats too slipperyy, it was like a fried egg in a non stick fry pan, go around corners or stop and the bum slid.
Don't use Armourall within a hundred metres of a spray painter....![]()

I have tried a couple of times now with light olive oil spray, does the trick wonder fully, blackens everything, but of course picks up the dust. But washes off fine and then re-apply. It really gives it that new car look !
I also sprayed the rear bumper and other exterior plastic trims with the plastic paint, that brought them back to life but is a longer exercise with all the masking off etc.
