Front seats....retrim or replace with aftermarket.

Tossing up if I replace the front pews in the D2 (manual leather) with something aftermarket like a pair of Stratos or Recaro , or get the factor seats re done with new innards and leather.
I know it is a personal choice thing , but has anyone had a great outcome in getting a remake done on the factor chairs?

Missus an I are both lightweights , so find the base and backs too hard on long trips.

I'll swap you for my worn in and nice and soft cloth seats...

On a more serious note - I've found good sheepskin covers make a world of difference.

Just had my bases redone as they were sagged and drivers had a tear in the side from getting in and out!
The trimmer did a great job!
Very happy! And didn't have to stuff around with trying to fit after market seats!

Not to mention the cost and hassle of getting them engineered.

Ben from APT gave me the name and address of a company in Brisbane that refurbishes D2 seats [any car seats actually]I'm sure he said around about the $ 500 mark a year or two ago. I'll have to contact him again , to find out again as I can't find the bit of paper. When I find out, I'll post it here, if you wish.

Both of those after market brands would have big bolsters on the side,, making it even harder to get in and out, and then more wear and tear on your new seats,
retrim,,, or sheepskin, I got ten years out of the sheepskins I put on the Rossi,,

The ladies all squeal when they get into my Recaros. LOL

Its very difficult to change seats in a D2 as the base and seat are in one piece and even the seat mounts are asymmetric. You cannot change L to R even. They also have seat belt pretensioners which must not be altered.

I went to a lot of trouble to fit Recaros as my wife has a bad back and with the Recaros can sit all day without a problem. Happy wife happy life. She often comments that it is the best mod I have done both with a set in my previous RRC and in the D2. Both sets were bought second hand.

So, where's the details on how did you achieve it then?

Thanks Bob, if you can find it great. Otherwise I can ask Ben/APT.

Yeah, you live close to APT. His phone no. will be in the add up top, probably best if you chat to him. If you've met him you will know how approachable he is. Cheers.
