wow thanks Philip so the ECU actually re-programs itself based on the way you drive?

I've actually noticed a big improvement this week (i've had the car just over a week), I'm no leadfoot but the twisty hilly roads in my town require a bit of go. I guess the previous owner was a bit of a slowcoach. good times.

I guess you could easily transpose the term 'slowcoach' ... with 'sympathetic' too tho!

Also note that one of the most common bits of advise you'll receive is to get yourself a Nanocom(or similar).
(note that Nanocom will come up regualrly as it's a very common piece of kit)

I advised my brother to get one too for his D2(I currently only have a D1 running), but in terms of helping to diagnose stuff and configure stuff, it's well worth the $'s spent on it.
I'm pretty sure it has the ability to reset all adaptive values or something like that.

Take a peek in the Nanocom group buy thread. It may sound like a considerable sum of money, but for sure it'll pay for itself someday in saved $'s in the most simple or basic repair of something trivial!
Oh! and if you ever get the dreaded security system lockout .. well, just pray you never get the dreaded security system lockout, not having a Nanocom before that point!

After the episode we had with my brother's TD5, I disabled the security system on my (up coming) D2 V8.

Thank you Sir, the car came with a nanocom! no idea what to do with it haven't had a chance to check it out yet. I'm guessing I'll need to download some software? maybe this weekend if i'm not working. woohoo!

This must be a TD5 thing,, 10 years of ZF use with two V8's and I cant make it change,, oh yea,, reset!! nope. does exactly the same,,
cause that could be just me--


Maybe I should start a POLL on how much the trans changes after a reset??

plugged in the nanocom (old one not the evo) and got the following:

03-07 Air flow circuit (intermittent)
04-01 inlet air temperature circuit (intermittent)
06-01 inlet air temperature circuit (intermittent)
20-02 Turbocharger overboosting (current)
31-05 Injector 5 open circuit (current)

could 20-02 and 31-05 be the cause of the loss of power at times? and how do I fix them?

I've read the injector loom could be the issue with 31-05, and perhaps bypassing or replacing the wastegate modulator could fix the overboosting?

Nearly a whole can of contact cleaner later the connector is clean. I'll be ordering a new loom asap.

Even more fun the oil level is up and smells like diesel. I'll start with new injector seals but what else should I be looking for? Good times.
