I have my ABR dual battery controller in that exact spot . I cannot recall one or two bolts but it has stayed there securely for 4 years+. IMHO a good position.

I'm yet to installthe SC80. I have found a spot on the inside of the drivers side guard, behind the fuse box, just in front of the fire wall. There seems to be maybe enough space there, but only with the top bolted to the guard. There are 2 10mm fixed boltds on the guard but I can't see for the life of me how to mount a plate on those and have the SC80 screwed onto the plate. Any one with any pictures of an SC80 mounted here? Or, where else could I mount it? I'm tempted just to put the SC80 in that spot nd let it float around, or maybe some double sided mounting tape. I'd prefer the bolt/screw option
Thanks in andvance

Hi Julian, where is your second battery located?
All other types of isolators must be mounted as close as possible to the cranking battery or they can have problems.
All my isolators can be mounted anywhere between the two batteries including next to the second battery, even if the second battery is in the rear or in a caravan or camper trailer, and the isolator will work as designed.
So if your second battery is in the rear cargo area, you could mount the isolator there if it is more convenient.
Just a suggestion.
I mounted my USI-160 in that spot, works well for me.

Hi again Julian, when I fitted the SC80 to my D2, I simply made up an aluminium plate and fixed it to the top of the cranking battery, using the battery hold down bracket to secure the plate in place.
