The pedal switch may be buggered, Use a multimeter or a test light to check it out with.
2000 Auto TD5 Disco 2 has suddenly lost all brake lights. Bulbs are fine. Fuses are fine. I removed the brake pedal switch, sprayed electrical contact cleaner through it, opened it to reset the length and reinstalled - still no lights. Before I start pulling cables and chasing connectors does anyone have some likely culprits I should chase first?

To rule out the switch make a bridge in the plug as to connect the green/purple to the green/orange wire turn ignition on and if still no lights then you can start the circuit troubleshooting....if they come on this way get a new switch

Ta, I'll give that a crack this afternoon.
In case of circuit problem if the lights dont come on with bypassed switch the first place to check should be connector C0102/0484(green/purple wire) cos this one used to suffer from corrosion.

Hmm. My plug has three wires. One green/purple and two green/orange .....
Bridge the two from the sides pins 1 - 3, pin 2 from middle is orange/green not green/orange(the trace should be a bit thinner than the main colour)

Right, I'm a dufos. Turns out the brake switch is fine and before I went a tore down to find faulty connector I rechecked the bulbs .... so the bulbs in the lower red "lights" were fine .... but all three brake bulbs in the upper sides and centre high brakes were all shot! A simple bulb replacement it turned out to be.
Don't know why I must have earlier only checked the lower ones but that's what I must have done.
Thanks for the replies.
