    Intermittent Central Locking

    Hi all,
Have an issue where the central locking usually works when locking, but then rarely works when unlocking. I don't usually lock the Disco, but when I do, I then need to crawl in and use each door's latch to unlock the door, and this is pretty awkward to do. Tailgate door doesn't seem to be an issue, just the three passenger doors.

I think I replaced the driver's door actuator some time ago, and it's fine, but the fact that the other three are playing up in unison makes me think it's something different to the individual door actuators. Any thoughts?

I have both rear passenger doors that will lock but not unlock, so I'll watch this post with interest.

    Lock actuators

I too have the some locks wont unlock problem, driver door, passenger rear and tailgate. I am so not paying 100-300 for a latch. I removed and disassembled the tailgate latch, not sure what they do but there is 2 motors - I assume one to lock and one to unlock or maybe superlock I don't know. What I do know is one was cooked.

So I now have motors on order and if all goes well I'll post a how to, hoping the doors aren't much harder than the tailgate but I'll wait till I get the motors and the tailgate works again and I'll try the doors.

    Cheers

OK I'll bite the bullet and pull my doors apart. I'll post what I find, luckily I have spares.

What a great job to be able to repair it.
I have recently affixed a loop of wire to my interior handle and have a long hooked wire on hand in case mine jams as I have a set of drawers and a fridge in the way .

Well I cleaned the motor and got it back together and all good. Mine looked the same as the motor in the link. I'll replace the motor when the new one comes. As the link says they are a bit tricky to get back together but totally do-able. I'll post some tips after I tackle the passenger doors.

If I can get some donor mechs I could start a deposit based exchanged for a small fee to members? just a thought

4x 20mm Long Shaft Car Door Lock Actuator For Mabuchi Motor Repair Lexus Toyota | eBay

These are the ones I bought, they are the closest I could find but the shaft still wont be long enough. When I work out how to press the worm gear off and back onto the new motor, I'll lock tight a small section of the old shaft in the other end so it still has support.
