Turbo waste gate boost control valve.

    Hi all,

Scratching around under the bonnet of my D2 yesterday I see that the top hose connector of the turbo waste gate boost control vale has got very brittle and broken off. It's Land Rover DISCOVERY/DEFENDER TD5 TURBO WASTE GATE BOOST CONTROL VALVE PMK100130 | eBay

Question is - what does it actually do ? I'm sure I would've noticed it in the past if it was broken and the break is still clean so it's probably not been broken for long and I've not noticed any sudden change in performance.

Do I need to get another one ( and a replacement tube ) from Roverlord or do I just plug up the hole(s) where it used to join the air intake hose ?
    Cheers,

Replace it , the top tube should be vented into the air intake , do you hear a slight hissing under full boost ? they normally get broken off when people move the air con compressor out of the way to do other work it should be removed first, before the a/c is moved ,don't block it

I can't hear any whistling but that's not surprising considering the racket a Td5 makes...

Thinking about it some more I probably broke it while I was having a major hose clamp campaign last week in preparation for our Birdsville trip.
