Earth Point for oil pressure switch

    Hey brains

Doing some repairs on the conduit for the oil pressure switch and broke the earth off?? I think but may have been already???

So looking at rave it's connector
    C0187 1-WN 2-B
    WN to
    B to earth E110

So where are these??? Just lug it and bolt to engine??

There should be a pdf named ellt030e.pdf in the RAVE CD. It has "Electrical Library" on the cover page.
This it pretty much an essential companion to the circuit diagrams.

The Electrical Library has a section called Connector Views which is ordered by connector number. The connector view has a photo of the connector location, a diagram of the pinout, and a list of which variants use each pin.

The note in the circuit diagram says "Earth via fixings". I'd read that as meaning it's earthed via the block.

I would have thought that the oil pressure switch is only a single wire type, and the earth comes from the body of the oil pressure switch itself.

That is, the harness shouldn't have any earthing that goes to the oil pressure switch plug.

    I think!

EDIT: I have a V8, so I went directly to the V8 section of the electrical info.

V8 seems to use the single wire(WN - white brown) wire .. but!
TD5 is listed as using the WN and a black wire on the connector.

    begs the question .. V8 or TD5 ?

When I unwrapped the cables from around the back of the engine the black wire was cut/broken about half way around the back and I can't find any lugs or connections back their??
So should I just put a lug on it and bolt it on the block??

There is actually one other reference to the E110:

When one of the horn switches is pushed, an earth path is completed from thehorn relay coil on a PO wire from the engine compartment fusebox, via headerC0291 LHD/C0286 RHD, the rotary coupler and horn switches, to earth viafixings E110.
Even so the oil pressure lamp works perfectly well earthing via the block.

I've seen both single wire and two wire oil pressure switches on d2's. If you have the single wire type the loose earth wire in the loom is redundant and can be ignored.

    Ahh makes sense!
I'll check what type of switch I have cause it's looking like the wire was never connected.

Thanks bee utey saved me some extra work!!

There's actually quite a few references for E110 earth via fixing.

Starter motor and alternator on page 50, Interior load space lighting at page 105, Parking distance thingy too(that I noticed).
So it's meaning is as simple as it sounds, and the hex symbol used to indicate that it's where the earth point is taken from.

If you look at the diagram for the brake fluid level above it, it's earth terminates at connector C0018 and at port 8 of that connector block. And of course the same hex symbol used for that earth header/connector used to indicate that the earthing point for that earth connector is the connector itself(at the body).
