Thread: Alarm/immobiliser issues D2

My son (actually granddaughter) has a D2. It has refused to unlock after not being used for several weeks with either key - the light on the key comes on when the unlock is pushed, but nothing happens. Thinking he had a flat battery in the car he called the NRMA and they found that the car unlocks OK with the key, but there is nothing wrong with the battery, and the alarm works fine. (NRMA disconnected the battery)

He is going to talk to his local mechanic tomorrow, but he is not a Landrover expert, and I fear he will not be able to help. This points to a rather expensive tow job to Canberra. Any suggestions to avoid this? My son is non-mechanical, and I am nearly 400km away!

Mine will not unlock with the remote after about 8 hours.
Unlock with the key and then hit the button and it works fine rest of the day.
