    Diesel fuel anti gelling additive

I've decided to take the young ones up to Mt Donna Buang to play in the snow. The day after I filled up the fuel tank. The minimum temp there is 0C or -6C with the wind chill factor. I've had a look at SCA etc. via the web, for anti gelling additives, they don't seem to have any.
Anyone know of an additive and where to buy it? I'm guessing that 3% kerosine is not an option

    Thanks

I've heard this stuff works well

LUCAS OIL PREVENTS DIESELS CATCHING COLDS THIS SNOW SEASON

Should be available from your local stockist. I know that servos towards the hills have it - I live in Alexandra which has it everywhere. If you come up via Warburton they should and I'd assume someone in Healesville or LIllydale (at a long shot) would too

Why not just fill up with Alpine diesel closer to your destination. That is all you need. Work out what "normal" fuel you need to drive to the alpine region and then fill there so you have the max amount of alpine diesel in your tank when you head up into the mountains.

I am in Canberra where many nights in winter got down to -7 and my RRS is parked outside - no issues with the Alpine diesel at my local Woolies/Caltex service station.

Not normally the case as a spur of the moment trip to have a near empty tank just waiting for a full tank of alpine fuel
I have a bottle of anti gel i carry and use in winter not that it gets below 0 here often but more for when i have one of those spur the moment trips im prepared

If it’s just a day trip don’t worry about it.

The drive up will warm the tank noticeably and it will remain warm enough after several hours to not gel.

    (Overnight is a different story)

    Tonbie

I've looked all over the place to try find how to PM someone (in this case Tombie) and I cannot find how.

Sir, would you (Tombie) be so kind as to PM me so I may ask you a question.

    Cheers

Look at the bottom of each post, there's an option to PM the poster.

    Durr

Yep that's right Durr, thanks V8Ian, I'm blind in one eye, can't see out of the other at times.

I always seem to look for the harder option!

    Cheers

    Mike
