    D2a TD5 a/c Condenser- where to source?

I need a new a/c condenser, and have been told there are none available either OEM or aftermarket in AUS.
Can anyone debunk this, or will I have to go overseas for one?
SWAMBO is not going to be happy with me trundling along at 80 kmph pulling the brick to Coral Bay and back with no a/c!!
    Cheers

    Auto electrician

You will have to go to a specialist, Auto Electricians usually do Air con as well,

Depending on what you are like on the spanners buy the condenser from them fit it yourself and take it back to them to re-charge the gas.

It is a fussy job getting the radiator, intercooler etc out so unless you have the time and knowhow I'd leave it to the experts.

The condenser is definitely available though.

    Regards

Hi Mike - car was being done by local auto sparky (used before) and they said they could not source a condenser - hence the post.

Cheers Mario - never heard of Hella as condenseres, but will ask advice of my proper mechanic first up. Plus, our local Natrad guy was very helpful on an unrelated matter this morning, so might be an option for the work.

Here it is: Hella AC Condenser 8FC 351 318-001 fits Land Rover Discovery | Sparesbox though if you google out JRB100790 you'll see that it's much cheaper to import a Nissens from UK
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned

Thanks all. Ended up missing the boat timewise with a family bereavement, but my local NatRad store is organising me one for about $300, then will fit along with my "acquired" 44mm HD alum radiator (thanks Dazza) to slot in with my Serick intercooler and O/size auto trans cooler. Hope he has small fingers, cost there's not going to be much spare room in there. Will occur next month after our next touring trip, so will then have 2 data bases to check if the radiator improves cooling capacity for when towing the 3T brick. Currently I'm limited to about 80 kmpg touring before EGTs get too high.

    Two things if I may

I'd change my sparky, maybe he knows how intricate the job is and didn't want to do it?

Second on the alloy radiator, mine had one in it when I bought it, my mate, a radiator specialist warned me to watch out as they are not flexible and crack easily. Sure enough, when chasing lost coolant, top front tubes were leaking and bottom rear right tubes were leaking they had cracked the welds to the tank.

The fit wasn't good either, bolt in one side and zip tie the other side because the holes didn't line up, could have been a cheap overseas version of a good thing.

    Regards

    Mike
