The lad runs big mud tyres and I think it may be lifted a tad too.

He may well sell it so the cheapest option is the go.

    Different Kit sizes?

I am now also in need of either a front drive shaft kit or a replacement item.

Driveline Service in Brisbane is asking me what size for the uni-joints, and telling me that there were more than one size used.
First I have heard of different sizes.

Any comments from the brains trust?

There was only one size uni from the factory for the D2 shaft, it was 1300 Spicer size but the genuine unis used a 1310 size trunnion.

A number of aftermarket shafts, e.g. Tom Wood use a 1310 uni on the DC joint and bottom uni.

Thanks rick130, but I'm not sure I get what you've said.

Factory was 1300 size but genuine was 1310 trunnion?
So is factory not genuine or is factory/genuine a 1300/1310 hybrid??

Ok, the Land Rover uni is dimensionally a 1300 Spicer but...
The trunnion, i.e. the cross is 1310 diamater so has the strength of a 1310 Spicer uni, but only that 1300 size uni was ever used on the D2 driveshaft.
Defenders are different, TD5's used a 1310 (or 1330??) at the diff end

Sorry, on the phone so can't link top individual posts but scroll down to my post with the part numbers
