    Angry Low life mongrels!

    Hi all,
Some low life made off with my wife's handbag out of her shopping trolley the other day.

So, as well as the usual hassles of cancelling credit cards, having to get a new driver's licence etc. etc. etc., we now have only one working key for our recently acquired DIIA Td5. (Which, I might add, I had to bring to her from our place about 45km from the larger regional town where she was shopping...)

When we bought the car, the PO gave us three keys but only two work. (She did say something about the third key but I've forgotten now.)

I've also recently purchased (thanks to AULRO Group Buy ) a Nanacom but have very little experience with it. Should I be able to use Nanocom to tell the third key and Lady Daphne II that they are compatible?

    Any help much appreciated.

the nanocom does indeed program keys and does not look that hard to do. I have never done it as i do not own a nanocom but it is one of the reason i want to get one as it programs keys and unlocking the door manually is for mortals.

If you have the barcodes for the key.

I forget what the Nanocom requires (I have Hawkeye, a search should yield good results though) but open the keyfob and see what barcodes are inside.

Someone of Nanocon experience will likely pipe up.

I would also erase the stolen key code from the ECU in case the key "owner" comes looking for a car.

Don't be surprised if the other key doesn't want to work.
If a key has been activated on another vehicle or something it can't been programmed again to work on a another vehicle.
So not knowing the specifics of this other 'third' key and why it''s not working .. just do be too disheartened if it doesn't work.

BUT! .. if you disable the immobiliser/alarm system and the third key has been cut to suit the D2, you could just use it manually for the time being.

The key programming routine in the Nanocom is quite easy to do. Hope it all works for 'ya.

My D2's came with lots of keys, some off them looking like new(uncut) but previously programmed .. so won't re program to work on the project car.
And I wanted to have a second key, so went looking on ebay and found some sellers have them at reasonable prices. Ended up getting my spare for about $80 or so .. that one(being new) programmed immediately.

So if you get a spare fob and get it programmed, AND the third key is cut to suit the D2a .. then all you'd need to do is to pull out the key blade from the third keys fob, insert it into the new fob(even tho it has a new blade ready to be cut) .. and you're good to go.

One key can be programmed for multiple vehicles if you have the 6 digit number in the fob, the key is pre programmed, the car just needs to recognise it

Yep! so the theory goes. Tried on more than one occasion on the quite new keys I have(6 off in total) .. doesn't work in reality.
Key does get recognised by the nanocom as a key in the list, but won't operate the cars locks.

Got a totally new key off ebay(IIRC about $80 or so) .. programmed and worked immediately.

There is every chance that your address was in the handbag, also Probably your house keys as well as the car key.
I would be more concerned about the scumbag breaking into your house and using your car to drive away with the stolen stuff than worrying about getting the spare key to work.
