Maybe postpone a decision until the other bits are sorted. And in the meantime, keep an eye out for a suitable box.

Ill have it for a while yet, still taking a few bits and pieces of it for myself. Probably look at getting rid of it after Christmas but ill have the motor and tranny out by then. If you want it iys yours mate ill chuck it in the garage and you can gwt in touch when youre ready mate. No stress.
OK, now I need to get it home. If my son comes down in his fancy new Ranger, is there anyone who has a car trailer I could borrow? The car is in Braeside, and I am in Sassafras.
Sell it to my mate in Warragul as is. He has a D1 300TDi with a buggered engine. I'm guessing it will be easier an cheaper for him to fix an auto in a D2 then repair or replace a 300TDi.
It's an interesting thought, but I'm not sure if it's a viable one. There is virtually nothing that is interchangeable between a D1 and D2, no matter how much they look alike.
Also, 300TDi's aren't hard to fix, but a ZF 4HP22 is.
I would consider a part exchange with a working 300 TDi for a working TD5 ZF 4HP22 however. Or a complete and running RRC. Hmm, there's a thought. Watch the Markets.
