neither side of the terminals on the switch are earthed , as I mentioned before it is a single switch , you need both wires to complete the circuit , 1 wire will not work , but it doesn't matter which way round they are, and it is not the same as the oil switch which will earth through the body

Unfortunately i dont have one within reach to measure but if you are 100% certain of what you say i'll not contradict you again and admit that RAVE is wrong(won't be the first time)

Hi sierrafery,

This is the one for the diff lock with the two connections c306 and c307

Also tested an old switch and it's contacts are isolated from the hosing so no earth through the body.

So rave is correct as the switch is in two seperate locations 47.1 instruments and 34.2 slabs

I thought that if the cdl was locked or unlocked at speed, the transfer case would go bang bang bang. This is ok even if the front and rear prop shafts are rotating at different speeds?

I have always engaged/disengaged 4WD while the vehicle is stopped in ANY make of 4WD.
This way there is No chance of doing any damage to the transmission.
If you Have to engage 4WD on the run it is usually too late in many cases anyway.

AFAIR from the sticker you can lock or unlock up to 40KMh.( PS just checked and sticker says 60KMH)

I would think it would not go Bang Bang Bang as the locking mechanism is a large dog clutch that is spring loaded and should fall in as soon as the dogs are in a position to mesh.
Changing from low to high and vice versa is another matter as the car has to be stopped or driving very slowly ( sticker says 8KMH) and I have found in neutral. In my RRC I used to have to stop the engine sometimes to change into low in the BW.

I have to manipulate a lever under the car. I always like to do this when stationary.

If you did that whilst moving then the car might not have been the only one that bonged[bigwhistle]
