TD5 cracked block !!
I have been stripping down the Disco chasing the cause of running rough and lots of coolant in the sump. Head came off and went for pressure tests IMG_6370.jpgIMG_6373.jpgIMG_6377.jpgIMG_6379.jpg
Next oil cooler apart to inspect and resealIMG_6390.jpg

Next checking the bores and measure piston protrusions. Here is where I found a big problem . Number 1 Piston has no protrusion. So bent con rod I recon . Next while inspecting bore found a large crack between bore and coolant gallery. This is where all the coolant is getting in.

So I’m thinking head gasket went , cylinder filled and hydraulic locked causing damage
So I guess the block is a boat anchor now . Any one had one repaired with a liner ?
Any TD5 bottom ends for sale ??

When I did an oil pump bolt I bought a whole engine in good running condition for $2200.00 in Melbourne.
The car had been rear ended
It turned out to be a good buy. Changed it out my self in a very oily week.
Regards, Nick.

We linered one a couple years ago, had been dusted pretty bad on number one and a 20 thou oversize wouldn't get it, so linered number one, have done another 110k since with no drama (with the block anyway)
But you would probably be better finding another block really I think in your situation.
All the best...

Mine's got a cracked head and I'm thinking of parting the rest out.
Sunshine Coast might be a bit for for you to come for a block though
