    Key cutting..

Has anyone had any success getting keys cut from a code? Does anyone know if LR still supplies codes from a VIN for 2000 MY car? Oh, I suppose I can ring them about that, or is there a web resource? My keys are all gone, thanks to someone I won't name. Nobody will take on doing the auto without a key, understandably.

The physical key side is not such a big issue as the passive element to enable the engine. Do you still have all that gubbins?

If you do, then order a spare key set from ebay, about $2 and they come uncut, you could then try impressioning it to get the key to work - chances are something nearly right will be fine... My old D1 key was like a skeleton key for other discovery's

    Further info.

I rang the local dealer with the vin number and with in 2 minutes they gave me the key code number. Took number to large lock smith and key cut and worked with nil issues. Bought two blank fobs from ebay will let you no how it went matching them to car with NANOCOM tomorrow night.

No, I have nothing, but I can get a Valeo key with all that from ebay, and I have a Nanocom.

Thanks Baz. Was that for a car as old as mine? I have never had any problem with the programming, it's just I don't have a key to cut from.

Yes, I do, but it is of no use without the physical key cut to the lock.

No problem, that parts easy as Bazzle stated , was just making sure you had the eka code before going down that path.

Call your dealer with VIN. I got mine in a few minutes - 2002 model so they needed to find some archives.
    It's a number 7000-9000
Good locksmith cut the blank and all good

Most of the bigger locksmith shops should be able to cut you a key from your Vin. They have software that allows them to input the VIN and it will cut the key on their machine. Phone around first, but it shouldn't be too much of an issue to find some. It is probably better to do it that way as your old key will have worn slightly and if they cut off that it will not work quite as well.
