    ac drain duct extension

Can any one tell me the out side diameter of the tube that fits into the ac drain tube as I want to extend it, the tube I put in it is not the right size and drips on the xyz switch and cant start it some times. (so not running ac )
I would like to have ac running as its hot. have searched the site and only can find inside diameter and 3 different sizes.

    thanking you for your help,

    Peter s

Yep. As Pedro says - I've had my D2 for over a decade with zero xyz issues from the ac drain.

You sure it's the xyz causing your issues? Eg: When did you last replace your crank angle sensor?

its just when I run the air conditioner the car will not start it just cranks over. I have to move the gear shift selector up and down for a while and then it will start . Have not replaced the crank angle sensor had the car nearly 2yrs. Can water get on the crank angle sensor from ac ducts.

Black 13MM? irrigation tube fits inside the drains. I used a bit a silicone to stick them in and they haven't moved in 5 years.

I also was able to fit the little bug excluders to the ends of the irrigation tubing by slitting them and sticking them in with a bit of silicone.

The car has been through the Murray river at Tom Groggin a couple of times and the Swampy plains river with no XYZ or double Cardan problems.

    Regards Philip A

The problem as I see it with the XYZ switch is that the cable entry is right at the top directly under the drain. As long as the sealing on the cable entry is OK , the XYZ switch will be OK but the question is that over the years does the cable entry sealing deteriorate. I say probably.

On the other side the drain is over the double Cardan joint. Ditto.

You might be right with the xyz then. You can rebuild yours or buy a new one from England if you're feeling flush. That should last you ages. I still wouldn't bother with moving the air con drain. The sensor is probably on the way out if the small amount of water from the air con is stopping you.

No - the air con drain is not near the crank angle sensor. I didn't realise that moving the gear stick made the problem go away in your case.

Someone will be along shortly with more knowledge than me ac drain duct extension

No cable entry to switch as such , the inner sleeve of the xyz switch turns on the selector shaft , which is attached via a bracket to the cable.
As mentioned it sounds like an xyz problem , check by looking at gear selection on the dash , it should correspond with the gear you have physically selected , also with wipers on , the rear wiper should also work with reverse, they are easy enough to rebuild , the hardest part is removing and replacing the switch , especially if the cat converter is there on eu3 , should be tutorial in the good oil

Apologies Philip, my mind was set on cable entry (as in selector cable ) not the wiring.
