Thread: Td5 disco2 loss of power and blowing smoke

    ok, I took my disco to a mechanic who diagnosed the issue. The radiator top hose had come loose on the engine side which caused the problem and the smoke. BTW, the smoke was black, not white. re head... he told me that the head issue with the TD5 had been sorted out at the factory by 2003, and therefore it's a very rare issue with post 2003 discos (unless overheated). In my situation, a loss of 1lt of coolant would not have damaged the head.

    He also found a small leak at the water pump and advised I had the wrong coolant in (mine is green). All these will be fixed soon.

    Hi Candeniz,

    Great news! If the mechanic puts in the correct coolant (Red Oat) you may experience some more small leaks, so keep an eye out.
