    Ball joint replacement

Hi all. Planning on replacing the front steering ball joints (both sides) in the next few weeks -‘99 D2 td5. Have noticed there is a TENSION COLLET (part # FTC3572) for the lower ball joint mentioned in the manual. Is this something I need to purchase? They are considerable cost. I haven’t seen them mentioned in anyone’s write-ups about replacement.
    Thanks in advance. Josh.

Unless you damage them removing the ball joint you don't need to replace them.

What tool are you using to remove?

Haven’t purchased the tool yet. Was going to order an inexpensive c-clamp tool. Figure I only need it to last 4 ball joints. Something like this to press them out
