New interior parts for D2 ?.

Hi all, my centre console on my D2 is looking the worse for wear and I also noticed today some additional cracking on it.

The area for the power window buttons is also damaged with most of the screw in receiver clips broken. The console appears to be disintegrating with age and probably rough usage over its life.

does any one know if you can source replacements still?.

    interior colour is grey.

    cheers Chris

I remeber chasing this up for my brothers .. same broken window panel retaining clip issue.
Hard to press the window buttons as the panel sinks into the console.

Had to chase up the bookmarks of the parts info I found.
BTR4286LOY is the part number listed for the D1.
Haven't confirmed that they are an exact fit between D1 and D2, but they're very very close.

I know that the D2 has the passengers side hook(D1 doesn't).

AFAICT: the major differences are between auto and manual consoles, where the gear lever selector access holes are shaped differently.

From what I can see the differences between a D1 and D2 auto trans console, are superficial(ie. that passengers hook).
Fixings appear to be the same.

L.R. Series in the UK seem to still sell them. Haven't enquired tho, and I suspect just a lack of updated listing, and possibly no longer exists.
They list it at only 80 UK pounds tho(excl VAT). Postage will be horrendous tho!

The other place I'd found a listing for that part was Craddocks. They had it listed for just a tad over 100 pounds, or using their exchange rate calculator .. $181 plus postage.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

Outback1 will probably have some bits as he specializes in D2.

You could probably fix the windows panel with some jury rigging. Mine has some mount bits missing but I just glued it back.

I was looking on line the other day for an instrument binnacle and a couple of other plastic trim pieces and discovered that a number of trim parts for the Disco 2 are now no longer available from Land Rover. Instrument binnacles and the RH rain gutter trim above the A pillar are now NLA.

With the youngest D2 now 14 years old, as stocks are depleted we are going to see more of this, particularly for parts which don't have a high demand.

Time to start an insurance spares stash i think

    Cheers

    You can try Britcar UK.

They will source any part genuine or aftermarket and most likely price match if not the cheapest.

I have been ordering from them for +10 years.

I most unique part I have ordered from the was a genuine windscreen plenum (a part as wide as car and made of thin plastic). At the time the wreckers wanted slightly more for one that had been baking in the sun for 10 years.

Best purchase was a set of suspension for $330 (5 shocks) including delivery from the UK. Same shocks excluding postage in OZ were $650.

    Regards
    Andrew
