You can simply test your battery yourself, measure voltage on it while cranking... if it drops below 10.5 you need a new powerfull one...though if the starter has a problem which affects the starting too the voltage drop is greater even on a good battery, if the D2 is manual try to bump start it without cranking and if it starts right away you need a new starter, the problem in this case is not the solenoid but some internal short in the winding or on the collector which disturbs the crank signal too

Try leaving the vehicle locked. If it's unlocked the electrical system might still be active. Locking it might shut it down and reduce current draw.

Have you got a spare battery to try instead of using the one in the truck?

Also tested the current draw with keys in but off car unlocked (always like this in the shed) and it's 680mA at the main lead from the battery.

I'll do a few searches today and see what I can find, but is this about normal?

    Cheers Lemo
From memory normal current draw is about 250mA.

If you search AULRO D2 battery drain a couple of threads should come up.

After my last battery failed I put in a 1000 CCA tractor lead calcium battery. Needs some squeezing to fit. The guy who sold it said it was for farm equipment.

Could start a lunar rocket 😀

    Havent looked back.
