    Heater core by pass

Have had enough of the a/c fighting the hot air coming out of the heater. And soaking up my precious V8 power and fuel.

What is the best way to by pass the heater core?

Will a "U" shaped piece of hose joining the inlet and outlet pipes, on the RHS of the engine, do the job?

    Heater core by pass

Great minds think alike - I have often thought about this too i don’t like it that even if you don’t wont aircon or heat and have the climate control switched off the natural ventilation air will be heated on it’s passage thru the works into the cabin. I thought of re plumbing so the heater core is on a bypass loop and flow could be controlled by a manually operated after market heater solenoid valve but it is just a pipe dream at the moment Heater core by pass

Yeah should work, 19mm are they? Just had a look in RAVE and would be pipe 4 and 9

Simply clamping the heater hose should do the job and If you want to reinstate the heaters you simply unclamp the hose.
Putting a inline valve will also work

Looking at the coolant flow this would stop the flow to item 5 in the attached diagram from RAVE??
    Is this correct?

I think 5 is just the throttle heat, mine is bypassed.

Item #5 is the fuel heater and is pretty much redundant in Australia and is the most common area that leaks occur, Many D2's have this bypassed.
Item #3 is the heater supply hose the fits onto the heater matrix at the firewall, this is where I would clamp or fit an inline valve if I was going to isolate my heaters, Much the same as all the early car heaters were setup

    Heater core by pass

Interrupting the coolant flow could risk compromising the cooling system efficiency IMHO better to bypass and maintain full coolant flow or if wanting to retain the heater incorporate a bypass loop Heater core by pass

Have been reading on a USA forum, that doing a heater by pass may raise engine temps. Not sure how, or whether it was using the loop method (joining the pipes with a hose) or the valve method (stoping flow altogether).

I am thinking of trying initially to just stop the flow with a clamp. I guess a "T" piece with a 2 valves would be ideal...
