Likely dud MAF, post where you are cause someone may be happy to lend you yours for a few minutes to test.
And buy genuine if you need to replace, do not waste the money on the knock offs, ask me how I know
Bog standard manual Td5 with a 10p engine with EGR intact.
I've just had the head replaced with an AMC head due to cracking and fuel finding its way into the sump and now it seems like I have a wounded MAF.
Nanocom airflow reading at idle is about 39 and at about 3,000rpm wide open throttle under load it's never more than about 300. This behaviour started immediately after the head was replaced. In fact I noticed as I drove out of the workshop forecourt.
After a bit of testing with the MAF disconnected the "bum feel" is that it's a little smoother and has a little more "urge" but it's not a startling difference. Could be all in my imagination too. A generous blast or 10 of CRC MAF cleaner has made not a jot of difference to the readings or to the feel.
Going back through my fuel logs it seems that over last few months consumption has risen from mid 9's l/100km to mid 10's. I had put that down to the cracked head putting the excess in the oil when it could've been the MAF in the process of karking it.
I just wish that I had another MAF laying around so that I could test by substitution.
Is the general consensus a dud MAF or should I be looking elsewhere?
Cheers,
Mark F...

Sounds like a dud MAF to me. 60 at idle is normal.
Sounds like the maf buy genuine I just replaced I got mine of ebay from roverlord it was genuine and arrived quickly great service .![]()
Thanks all. Looks like a new MAF is in order.
Seems a bit of a coincidence that the car was running perfectly apart from steadily rising oil levels and when I got it back from its head replacement the MAF has magically gone bad.
Oh well such is life with a Land Rover...

New MAF - thanks HEAPS to Harro. Runs a LOT better especially at low revs (<2k RPM).
Funnily the easily caused EGR valve stuck shut faults can't be induced now. Used to happen every time with wide open throttle under load at over 3k RPM.
I wish I understood more about how the ECU (10p engine with NNN ECU) uses the data from the MAF. More reading of RAVE and the Nanocom doco is in order.
