*Well if you look back I mentioned harness earlier, to which I assume you replied with "insisting" bluh bluh etc etc.
*I merely pointed out the vehicle has the wiring.
*I also pointed out in my last post "A auto ECU (engine computer) has no allowance for the manual clutch switch, as you say" (as you mentioned).
*As kelvo mentioned (quite rightly) a manual ECU wont work on a auto Discovery 2 as there is no provision to comms with the auto trans ECU (under passenger seat).

*Just because me, you or anyone else makes a statement does not make it fact.
*You my friend would have no clue as to what I do or do not know.

I just wanted to reveal that auto ECU - clutch switch connection thing which was not mentioned in this thread before that then you came with those harness things which had nothing to do with the subject ... sorry for that, i'm not in the mood for an unfriendly polemic
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned

Thanks for the additional information. I was actually going to query next if the wiring looms were the same - i.e. if an automatic can be converted to a manual easily enough or if the wiring also has to be changed.

Converting a Manual Discovery 2 to an auto:
The biggest issue is the manual disco is missing a chunk of harness from the main harness, spliced in under the centre console (but feeds to the ECU in engine bay) that connects to the auto ECU under the passenger seat. Thats enough to turn me off from ever doing the job, sell the manual disco and buy an auto.

Converting a auto Discovery 2 into a manual:
*Ideally having a donor vehicle would be the way to go. The only wiring change needed is taping off the reserve light circuit and wiring to switch on manual gearbox.
Mechanically there are lots of little bits and pieces.
