    oil leak under inlet manifold

    I try to solve an oil leak coming from somewhere under the inlet manifold. I have already removed the manifold and found some oil inside it and as the bolts were quite loose I guess the oil could come from there (oil can only be seen under the first two inlet ports going down the side of the block).
    Also removed the air hose before the turbo and found oil there as well most probably coming from the breather. The turbo looks good, the shaft almost has no play.
    What is your opinion, can the oil come from any other place around the inlet ports (see on the photo) or it is the oil comes from the manifold?
    Is it normal to have such qty of oil before the turbo (hope can be seen on the photo)?

    You will get oil in the intake system from the crankcase blow by. This is why the intercooler gets flshed every 40,000 kms. If the intake manifold is loose, you could get this oil and crap from the egr leaking out.

    Are you sure the oil is not leaking from the the rocker cover and going down past the inlet manifold?

    The rocker cover gasket has changed and the top part of the engine is nice and clean now. Before i removed the manifold i cleaned all the engine and tried to find where the leak comes from. I could not find any other place.

    It is not unusual for the cam carrier gasket to leak a little on td5’s, mine has been weeping slightly in the same spot for several years. If that is the problem unless is it dripping I wouldn’t worry about it.

    It could be the oil feed connection to the Vacuum pump on the front of the alternator.

    I had the same thing, replace the intake manifold gasket and it will stop that leak. If it doesn't the only other 2 things that can leak oil on that side are the vacuum pump oil feed and return or the rocker cover gasket. Check your Fuel pressure regulator and hoses while that is all apart. If the FPR regulator (little top hat) is leaking you can buy the regulator separately from a xr6 turbo, genuine Bosch 4bar regulator for about $80 off eBay.

    Thanks for all the comments! I already has the new gasket available and will be installed tomorrow. This morning I also removed the intercooler for cleaning.
    The FPR looks good, no need to be changed now.
    What I have recognized this morning is that as I have moved the fuel cooler away from the manifold it started to leak coolant ...
    Not much but could be seen under the car. Could not check closely yet, but seems that it comes from the housing, could it be?

    I vote for the manifold leaking, surprising how oil blow by there is and how little leak can look huge over time.
    The Fuel cooler/heater has an O ring each end which leak, you can get a kit with 2 new O rings and special skinny hose clamps to fix it.

    The car is back on road and hopefully the oil leak has solved.
    Regarding on coolant leak. Actually it was not the fuel cooler O rings but the EGR cooler outlet pipe. The rigid part of the "pipe assembly" (it was already from several pieces including about 7 hose clips!!) has broken as I have tried to put back the fuel cooler and pushed it with my hand. When I took it out and tried to bend it was rigid like glass and broke easily. I am lucky that it has happened during repair and not on the road.
