D2 'stock' ride height - one answer

    Hi Onebob,

I get 435 mm on mine.
The car has a LR bulbar and side steps, but no other modifications.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

I measured mine to be 495 mm which reflects my LRA 2inch lift. I’m running 245/70 all terrains which i will be replacing before winter and are considering a taller but not wider tyre and i want to work out what the potential height gain might be..

    D2 height - tyre size

I should have mentioned what tyres I am running.
    They are Bridgestone 697's, 235 x 70 R16, at 30 PSI (front), 38 PSI (rear).

I'm pretty sure you can gain 15 - 20 mm by going to /75 or taller.

my understanding is that the stock D2 tyre size is 235/70/16, or alternatively 255/55/18.
That's how my two D2s are placarded.

So 245/70 is slightly taller and a bit wider than standard.
245/75 is a good alternative if you go 245 section tyre.
Brother got some KO2's for his D2, my D1 came with 255/70's when I got it .. but I prefer his 245/75's.
Slightly more compliant ride .. AND the (245)KO2 tyre is a lot nicer than my (255)Geolanders.

What tyres/sizes you considering as replacements

When the time comes for me to replace tyres, I'm strongly leaning towards the KO2(at 245/75 16's) too.
Only downside is the speedo is out of whack by a significant margin. Shows well under .. maybe 100 indicated at 105 actual.
He still hasn't got a speedo corrector to sort that out.
The other issue with that is that of torque converter lockup and gear changes.
With the brothers geared up TD5, now it seems to change into a higher gear what feels like is too late, hold lower gears a lot longer than it feels is necessary.
I'd say the speedo corrector set right(to show more than actual) would fix that too. Dunno, just a guess on my part that's what would happen.
    Arthur.

I’m considering 235/85 but will check the guidelines re lift and the fitting of non standard tyres. ATM don’t know where to go to find that info and interpreting it is another thing....D2 ‘stock’ ride height

Found online on the VicRoads webpages a pdf download “guide to modification for motor vehicles” and atm I’m picking apart section 13.3.1 option 1 regarding a total permitted lift of 75mm. It seems i should be looking at 245/75 tyres with my current 2 inch lift.
