If your going in to limp mode you’re putting more into the transmission than it can handle..
Check your boost settings, you may need to drop 1/2 turn on the screw.
My new Nanocom arrived this afternoon and I was wondering if these numbers and codes and faults are ok -
D2 TD5 2000, 15p engine
ACE system: I’m getting a sound a bit like an over pressure valve release sound every 10 seconds, so I’m wondering if my ACE pressure valve is crook. Also developed a sudden leak at both fittings/ends of the ACE ram so again wondering if it’s over pressurising.
Auto Trans: these numbers mean nothing to me but one of them is markedly higher than the rest.
Auto Trans Fault Code: no real trans issues. It’s been serviced regularly in the last2 years that I’ve owned it. Only issue is when I tow my almost 2t camper and I give it full acceleration to pass a car the trans goes into limp mode and needs to be stopped, turn off the car and restart it. All then seems good.

This morning, towing the same camper, according to Nanocom I’m boosting 1.12-1.17 bar
Incidentally water temp rose to 94.2 before I ran out of hill
I’ve got a TRS remap

That’s all good, but it’s the torque the box is seeing that’s throwing it into limp mode.
Went through all of this during the tuning phases on early TD5s.
The later Transmission module was a little more tolerant of higher torque but not much better...
Couple of ways to go
One is to change for a later TCU, and fill trans with synthetic oil on your next change ( worthwhile doing anyway)
Another is change down to third ( pulling 2 tonne would be a good idea to keep it there) and let the tc lock up before passing.
Don't drop your boost any further ( I'd increase it with a trs remap)
TCU is trans computer under passenger seat.
Hi John, going up and down the SE freeway in my Td5 over Easter I tried using Sport mode and it reduced the amount of gear changes. Not sure but it may have a similar effect to locking it into gear.
So that may help? Can anyone shed some light on this? .... touch off topic...
