As far as I know Yes, Mine still has the original alternator in it a Bosch 130A unit.

Bosch: 0 123 510 073 for the V8(at least both of mine are)

Might depend on what causes the next failure as there's a large body of replacement part details above now to assist in repairing.

Saddened to hear about your early failure as I've just fitted a new Denso unit to my D2a TD5. The last one lasted 270,000 km and 16 years so I had hoped the new one would achieve similar life span... Hopefully you were just unlucky, or maybe it's better to use the $300.00 cheapie replacement alternators off eBay then and be prepared to replace more often?

I definitely would not recommend the "cheapie" Td5 alternator I bought off eBay, didn't last 6 months, and as we know, it isn't cheap if it doesn't work

I know there are a lot of different part numbers out there for the Td5 Alternator, but I just purchased the rebuild items to DIY it.
Here are the DENSO part numbers that came up in North America as the Td5 is finally a 25 year old classic and can be legally imported here.


ALTERNATOR: Land Rover Part #ERR6999 / Denso Alternator Part # 100213-2530 or
(1998 – 2006) 100213-2391

BRUSH HOLDER & BRUSHES Denso = # 021620-2430

VOLTAGE REGULATOR Denso = #IN249 or PPIN249-E1 or #126000-2500

RECTIFIER = INR732 / INR733 or # 021580-3990 / -4040/ -4100/ -5040

It took a while to get all these numbers together and had to go through 3 different suppliers. I hope it helps someone.
Only 1 stop shop I could find was in England and carriage was more than the parts sourced locally.

Isn't the alternator the same as some used on Land Cruiser, or is it just the vacuum pump that is common?
