It doesn't pay to get lazy.

Normally I have a routine of a close inspection , on top and underneath , when I do an oil change service on my D2. Looking for leaks, anything out of the ordinary. At this time I do such things as checking the torque on manifold nuts, wheel nuts , pedantic to the extreme. Normally. I've slipped a bit. Yesterday , as we were going for a bit of a drive, I opened the bonnet, did the normal coolant oil ,etc checks, then did a quick check with the torch, in the engine bay. To my surprise, there standing proud of the exhaust manifold, was the second from the back top nut. On closer inspection, the end nut, and the one directly below, were both loose. Surprisingly, there was no manifold leak. Out with the torque wrench, all nuts checked and torqued, we were on our way. A close call, it just doesn't pay to get lazy.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

LOL! Not the kind of advice I wanted to hear today .. considering the feeling of lethargy that I got struck with.
Spoke to brother, said I may just end up finally getting 'round to doing my coolant hoses and coolant change .. hung up phone, sat back down .. did nothing all day.

In saying that tho .. I like your normal routine .. sounds similar to mine when I don't feel lazy.

Occasionally, mine is something like .. go out for a quick smoko break(from the kids), pop bonnet, have a peek around, feel this and that, check coolant reservoir .. check springs, hoses and 'stuff' for connection ... smoko over, back in.
maybe do the same a few hours again.

Oh! and thanks for the reminder too. I did my mainfold gasket last week and I should double check the tension on all the bolts too.
    Definitely tomorrow.
    Arthur.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
